Leader of The Nationals and Member for Murray Plains, Peter Walsh, says local sporting clubs must get on board with the latest round of funding available through the Sporting Club Grants Program.
Mr Walsh says grants of as much as $5000 are available to support community clubs at the grassroots level.
And he is more than happy to help clubs lodge successful applications.
“If your club does apply, I am more than happy to provide a letter of support to go with that application, just contact my office,” Mr Walsh says.
Applications for this round of the program are open until October 11, with funding available across various categories, including:
- $5000 for training coaches and volunteers.
- $4000 for setting up new sports or active recreation programs.
- $1000 for uniforms and equipment.
- $750 to assist clubs with travel to away games and competitions.
Mr Walsh says sporting clubs across his electorate are not just grassroots organisations, they are community assets making a difference in people’s lives.
And adds “receiving a grant such as this can make a positive difference in what those clubs can do”.
“Our community clubs are most often run on a shoestring budget and grants can assist provide the necessary equipment, support for volunteers, coaching, and player development,” Mr Walsh says.
“They are a big part of our lives, bringing people together, keeping us active, and providing opportunities for people of all ages to get involved,” he says.
“A grant can go a long way in making things easier for clubs to run smoothly, while helping to enhance community connection and belonging.”
