Dear Editor,
The death of a man in suburban Melbourne who died after waiting four hours for an ambulance is a tragic reminder our health system is in disarray.
Regional Victorians are not immune, and in even more danger, given the distances often involved to receive emergency treatment.
Ambulance shortages and exhausted paramedics have left regional Victorians at serious risk.
Hospitals across regional Victoria are experiencing ambulance ramping lasting up to eight hours, while taxis are replacing ambulances.
We need urgent action to address these system failures.
This mirrors the growing issues in our hospitals.
Budget cuts and insufficient resources are failing regional Victorians and Labor is still forging ahead with mega-mergers of regional health services.
Join us in demanding better support for our health services and staff to prevent more tragedies like this.
The Nationals have a petition which we encourage you to sign to fix our hospital system: https://www.handsoffourhospitals.com.au/
Labor can’t manage money, can’t manage health and regional Victorians are paying the price.
