The Community Crime Prevention Program will fund the installation of a security system and security door at St Mary’s Tyntynder Cricket Club to prevent further break in property damage and theft.
Leader of The Nationals and Member for Murray Plains Peter Walsh congratulated the club on their successful application to the program which has resulted in funding of $2 530 to support the security upgrade.
Mr Walsh said that Tyntynder is a very active club supported by a dedicated group of volunteers who work tirelessly to build a sense of community through the sport of cricket.
“Attacks of thefts and vandalism place an undeserved burden on clubs like Tyntynder who serve the community so well.
“I commend them for the successful application to the Community Safety Fund in an effort to deter vandalism of their club property “ Mr Walsh said.
The Community Safety Fund was developed under the former Coalition Government as part of the community crime prevention agenda but funding has only been continued for this year under the Melbourne Labor Government.
“It is an important program to make our communities safer and should remain a very high priority for this government “ Mr Walsh said.
