The Community Crime Prevention Program will assist in fund the installation of a security system to protect the Rochester Historical & Pioneer Society’s collection of historic photographs and artefacts.
Leader of The Nationals and Member for Murray Plains Peter Walsh congratulated the club on their successful application to the program which has resulted in funding of $3 088 to improve the security of their building.
Mr Walsh said that society is made up of dedicated volunteers who have worked tirelessly over many years to methodically record the authentic history of the lives and culture of Rochester and district.
“Their contribution to collating and recording history is invaluable and the security upgrade is an important initiative to protect the collection for generations to come “ Mr Walsh said.
The Community Safety Fund was developed under the former Coalition Government as part of the community crime prevention agenda but funding has only been continued for this year under the Melbourne Labor Government.
“It is an important program to make our communities safer and should remain a very high priority for this government “ Mr Walsh said.
