The Community Crime Prevention Program will fund the replacement of the security alarm system at Echuca Football Netball Club social rooms.
Leader of The Nationals and Member for Murray Plains Peter Walsh congratulated the club on their successful application to the program which has resulted in funding of $4 000 to support the project.
Mr Walsh said that the Haw Pavilion caters for a variety of community gatherings and the Echuca Football Netball Club has been working hard to improve the facilities for players supporters and the wider community.
“The security upgrade is important given that the out of the way location of the social rooms at Victoria Park has historically made it vulnerable to vandalism when unattended “ Mr. Walsh said.
President of the Echuca Football Netball Club Brett Stevens said the community grant for the installation of a new security system in the club’s social rooms is much appreciated especially as the club is the custodian of items of plant and equipment which belong to all community members.
The Community Safety Fund was developed under the former Coalition Government as part of the community crime prevention agenda but funding has only been continued for this year under the Melbourne Labor Government.
“It is an important program to make our communities safer and should remain a very high priority for this government “ Mr Walsh said.
