Leader of The Nationals and Member for Murray Plains said it is in the interests of the Victorian Landcare community to make submissions to the review of the Victorian Landcare Program which includes an evaluation of the Victorian Landcare Facilitator Initiative.
Mr Walsh said without strong support for the Victorian Landcare Facilitator Initiative future funding could be put at risk by the Melbourne Labor Government.
“Landcare is one of the greatest volunteer organisations but it needs facilitators to help groups plan undertake monitor and report on projects to increase participation and build partnerships and to assist in accessing grants and funding.
“Without the support of facilitators Landcare won’t be able to fulfil the important role they play in the community “ Mr Walsh said.
The government is conducting the survey as part of a broader statewide consultation process that commenced in mid-August and will remain open until 15 September 2015.
“It order to achieve the required additional facilitator funding it is most important that the landcare community responds strongly to this survey “ Mr Walsh said.
