Member for Murray Plains Peter Walsh has congratulated Swan Hill Specialist School on receiving $1.645 million in the Victorian Government Budget for vital upgrades.
Mr Walsh said this was a tribute to the whole school community – staff, parents and students – as well as generous support from the wider community who kept continued pressure on the government.
He said the funding had been hard earned and after several years of Budget disappointment the school’s ship had finally come in.
“There have been years of hounding relevant Ministers and departments, going to the media, raising the needs of the school in Parliament, but at no time has anyone in the school community given up and that determination has finally paid off,” Mr Walsh said.
“Overdue is not a strong enough word to use; but I am pleased in what has been a difficult year for so many including our school communities, that Swan Hill specialist School has finally received this much needed funding.”
