Community groups can now apply for grants under the Community Ice Action Grants 2018 of up to $10 000 to help tackle the drug”ice” in their local community.
The Leader of The Nationals and Member for Murray Plains Peter Walsh said the funding will be invested over four years to support grassroots Community Ice Action Groups.
He said a range of activities would be supported including forums production and development of communications promotion of education opportunities and the evaluation of these initiatives and interventions.
“Ice is an increasing problem across many parts of rural and regional Victoria including the Murray Plains electorate” Mr Walsh said.
“It is a very dangerous drug that affects not only the user but their friends families workmates and the community ‘“ it destroys relationships health and lives.
“I encourage passionate community people to consider becoming involved in a Community Ice Action Group and develop a community led response to ice related concerns in their community.”
