The Leader of The Nationals and Member for Murray Plains Peter Walsh has applauded the councillors of the Rural City of Swan Hill for taking a proactive stance in guiding the future direction of the shire.
Mr Walsh met with the Mayor and Councillors in Swan Hill this week to hear about the priorities that have been set by the Council and the action plan for the way forward.
He said the priorities identified by the Council included increased rail service continued investment in the social and sporting infrastructure of Swan Hill particularly a major upgrade of the hospital and the perennial issue of the location and building of a new bridge.
“While there are always challenges out there the people of Swan Hill and district have a lot to be proud of and much to look forward to” Mr Walsh said.
“The lifestyle on offer at Swan Hill is a fantastic one and given its geographical setting on the banks of the Murray River and its horticultural agricultural and tourism industries it is well placed to attract residents to the area who are looking for that slice of country living at an affordable price.
“There are so many positives for the community to build on and with a solid action plan in place those opportunities will be easier to capitalise on.”
