Leader of The Nationals and Member for Murray Plains Peter Walsh is encouraging sporting clubs across the Murray Plains electorate to apply for a grant under the latest round of the 2017-18 Sporting Club Grants Program.
Mr Walsh said grants of up to $5 000 are available to allow sporting clubs to update their equipment train their volunteers and improve their operational effectiveness.
“Grant streams like this are a great opportunity for clubs to purchase new equipment and help improve their facilities and club” Mr Walsh said.
“Sporting clubs play a big part in shaping and supporting our local communities. Being a part of a club provides a sense of community membership for participants and provides social interaction.
“The grants are available to non-government and not-for-profit community organisations that are delivering sport and active recreation programs across the Murray Plains electorate.”
Mr Walsh said the grants program had four categories:
- Category 1: Uniform or Equipment – Grants of up to $1 000 to purchase uniforms or other equipment essential for participation.
- Category 2: Skill Development – Grants of up to $2 000 to improve the operational effectiveness and efficiency of clubs through strategic planning or to increase community participation through accessible sport and active recreation opportunities.
- Category 3: Club Operational Capacity – Grants of up to $5 000 to improve the operational effectiveness and efficiency of clubs through strategic planning or to increase community participation through accessible sport and active recreation opportunities.
- Category 4: Aboriginal Participation – Grants of up to $1 000 for uniforms and equipment up to $2 000 for skills development training and up to $750 for travel to competition or training.
Priority will be given to projects that increase participation in communities with existing low levels of participation in sport and physical activity.
Applications are now open and will close on 24 January 2018.
