Murray Plains deserves a better deal.
Speaking to people in Echuca and around the electorate many people have told me they’re concerned about the rising cost of living job opportunities rising crime levels and the appalling state of our roads and rail services.
The Premier for Melbourne has lived up to his name failing for deliver for Murray Plains and Regional Victoria.
We deserve a better deal.
Among other things a vote for The Nationals will deliver Australia’s first high-speed rail network.
It’ll dramatically slash travel times between our regional cities knocking 47 minutes off the trip between Echuca and Melbourne.
It means the trip will be faster reliable and comfortable getting you where you need to be sooner and ending the plague of cancellations and replacement buses that we’ve been stuck with under Labor.
Better regional rail is the cornerstone of our plans to decentralise our state and make Victoria a state of cities instead of a city state centered around Melbourne.
We want to see communities like Echuca and Rochester share in the benefits of Victoria’s massive population growth.
Cutting regional payroll tax to 1 per cent will help local businesses to grow and attract new ones to relocate to our area securing and creating local jobs.
The Nationals in government won’t continue Labor’s mistakes.
Every child is entitled to the best start in life no matter where you live. In June this year we committed to right Labor’s wrong and build the new Echuca Specialist School.
Our communities are less safe under Daniel Andrews.
Crime is up more than 23 per cent in Campaspe Shire since December 2014 and I’ve heard chilling stories from residents and business owners who’ve fallen victim to break-ins and theft in volumes never seen before.
Jail must mean jail which is why The Nationals in government will crackdown on crime strengthening sentencing and putting stricter rules in place on bail and parole.
Not only will we better support our police we’ll make sure our CFA volunteers are best placed to protect our community ending Labor’s attempts to tear our critical fire services apart.
As the local MP I spend a lot of my time driving the electorate and know only too well the state of our local roads.
Just last week I was out on the Echuca-Mitiamo Road speaking to locals about their campaign to get VicRoads to fix crumbling shoulders that are a danger for school buses and the hundreds of trucks that travel the road each day.
City-centric Labor doesn’t understand that when you fix country roads you save country lives.
The Nationals in government will inject $1 billion into fixing country and regional roads across the state including in Campaspe Shire which will have a $4 million boost from a restored Country Roads and Bridges Program.
People living in Echuca and our communities in the Murray Plains electorate have been badly let down by the city-centric Andrews Labor Government.
Only a vote for The Nationals will deliver a better deal for Murray Plains and Regional Victoria.
