Local angling clubs can now apply for up to $2 000 to undertake projects such as open days clubroom improvements website development catch-a-fish days and guest speaker nights with the aim of getting more people fishing.
The Leader of The Nationals and Member for Murray Plains Peter Walsh said the Stronger Fishing Clubs program was open to all clubs that were operational as of 1 January this year
“Fishing is a relatively low-cost activity that can be undertaken by the whole family and this program aims to increase participation and make small improvements to infrastructure that will make it more enjoyable for people to fish “ Mr Walsh said.
“I encourage local angling clubs to apply for funding under this program which they can use for a variety of projects including membership drives introductory fishing days and advertising and signage.”
Mr Walsh said applications that propose to use the grants for membership drives introductory fishing days open days or marketing of their club with flyers signage and website development would be looked upon favourably.
In addition consideration will also be given to applications for the purchase of club equipment renovations or repairs to clubhouses and facilities.
