Leader of The Nationals and Member for Murray Plains Peter Walsh has encouraged not-for-profit incorporated community organisations that have an ABN to apply for funding from the Caring for Ageing Rural Australians (CARA) Program.
Mr Walsh said the CARA program is a target grant program designed to support projects and activities that benefit and support older people living in small rural and remote communities.
“Projects and activities should offer a clear public benefit for communities in rural regional and remote locations and applications from communities with a population of 10 000 or less will receive priority “ he said.
Under the program there are two streams – the Small Grants Stream for grants up to $10 000 and the Large Grants Scheme for grants over $10 000 and up to $125 000.
Grants are available for eligible projects and activities that :
- Help redress disadvantage caused by remoteness;
- Enhance aged care services and facilities;
- Build community capacity for aged-friendly communities;
- Foster community development through opportunities and participation for older people;
and/or
- Encourage positive and active ageing community health and wellbeing and education programs.
Mr Walsh encouraged all eligible community organisations across the Murray Plains Electorate that are passionate about caring for the aged to apply for the CARA program.
Applications open on 3rd July 2017 and close on 11th August 2017
