Leader of The Nationals Peter Walsh today hosted Leader of the Opposition Matthew Guy MP to Echuca in a combined Coalition effort to up the pressure on the government for a start date on the Echuca Moama Bridge.
Both leaders met with the Shire of Campaspe before taking a tour of the proposed route.
The Victorian Liberal-Nationals government announced in July 2014 that the Mid-West route had been selected as the preferred option for the second Murray River crossing
As part of that announcement $4.5 million was allocated to build the Warren Street/Murray Valley Highway roundabout with a construction start date of early 2015.
In the lead up to the 2014 State Election the Victorian Liberal-Nationals confirmed their strong support of the bridge project with an announcement of $96 million as Victoria’s share of the project.
The money was included in the pre-election Budget Update and re-confirmed in the 2015 State Budget.
