The Athlete Pathway Travel Grants Program is now open and Member for Murray Plains Peter Walsh
is encouraging local sporting teams and individuals to take advantage.
“Rural and regional sporting achievement is dependent on the ability of sporting teams and individuals
to travel long distances to climb league ladders or achieve individual dreams “ says Mr Walsh.
“We have a wealth of young elite athletes throughout the Murray Plains Electorate and in many cases the challenges they face to travel to state and national competition impacts enormously on their opportunities “ he said.
The program enables state sporting associations to apply for grants of up to $6 000 for teams or
$2 000 for individual athletes for travel costs associated with competing at national championships
or selection trials.
Clubs can also apply for up to two grants of $750 to assist coaches or officials with the travel costs
of training or competition.
Mr Walsh said it would be fantastic to see plenty of this money coming into the electorate and he encouraged all aspiring teams and athletes to investigate what is available to them and apply.
