At 6pm today the Andrews Labor Government will once again change border crossing permits.
Victorian cross border commissioner Luke Wilson said this will be the 30th amendments to the Andrews Labor Government’s permit system.
The Nationals leader and Member for Murray Plains, Peter Walsh, said the key changes cut back on some of the most important exceptions available under our state’s nightmare lockdowns.
Mr Walsh said that includes banning sport/exercise as a reason to cross the border when using a Cross Border Extreme Risk Zone permit (the normal permit available to cross border community members).
He said the government has also modified its Specified Worker Permits and there will now be two types of permit – a single entry or multiple entry – rather than the current three types.
“A permit holder will need to have attested to the work for which they seek the permit is urgent, essential to the operations of the employer or customer and can’t be done in a timely way by workers already in Victoria or in another green zone,” Mr Walsh said.
“The permit holder will also need to carry evidence from the customer or employer in support of those same three matters, such as a letter from them on company letterhead,” he said.
“This evidence will need to be carried after entry to Victoria – not just on entry to Victoria, as was previously the case.
“Modifications to the clause 14 exception categories have been introduced to move some categories of workers from exceptions to specified workers permits, especially in relation to health workers, emergency workers and defence.
“Modification of conditions attaching to specified worker permits, including revised testing requirements.”
Mr Walsh said this latest round of changes, apart from “confusing the hell out of people” is just more bureaucratic bull.
He said no-one knows if they are coming or going, and the thousands banned re-entry simply want to get home to their families.
“But what that really tells you is people are finished with Daniel Andrews, his super powers of emergency, his total disdain for regional Victoria and the fact he has absolutely no plan to get Victoria out of the mess he has got it in – and more and more people are seeing through his carefully crafted social media image and are meeting the real Daniel Andrews, a power hungry politician who want to hang onto his weekly $8000-plus salary.”
