The Nationals leader Peter Walsh says the Liberals Nationals are focused on delivering their positive vision for Victoria.
A vision that includes rolling out a plan about getting us out of the pandemic black hole in which Victoria has been trapped for the past 18 months and getting the state moving again.
Mr Walsh says Victoria’s net migration loss as people flee the state in their droves shows the lack of public confidence in the future.
“We need to get Victorians to be proud about their state again – we need to get Victoria back to the top again,” Mr Walsh said.
“All Victorians have lost 18 months of their lives; of community sport, of family gatherings and celebrations; of interaction and of friends – we must get our communities back together,” Mr Walsh said.
“With the Opposition’s leadership resolved we are committed to not just getting Victoria out of the mess in which Daniel Andrews has landed it but to making sure every Victorian gets to see our plan; because up until today there hasn’t been one forthcoming from the Andrews Labor Government, which is now making decisions and backflips to match its polling; not policy,” he said.
“Despite crying wolf over and over about the damage we will suffer from the pandemic; we are ready to stand here and confirm the pandemic is now endemic; it is something we will now learn to live with because that’s just simple reality.
“A key part of that will be getting our children back to school; getting our hospitality and accommodations industries; and our tourism markets; open and back on their feet.
“And recovery also means taking down our border restrictions and getting states to work together in the endemic world; not the panicking pandemic past – that is the big transition we have to manage.
“Those are all big jobs – for the whole state. We will be determined to get Melbourne back to life but we will also mirror that support across regional Victoria so it is part of a whole-of-state government where every Victorian gets a seat at the table.”
