Leader of The Nationals and Member for Murray Plains Peter Walsh has criticised the Andrews Labor Government for its inept management of the solar panel package that provided up to $2,225 to support the installation of solar panels.
Mr Walsh said Daniel Andrews had thrown well-intentioned people into financial stress because his government did not have its act together.
He said constituents had contacted him in recent months who were extremely frustrated about the original process put into place by the government to claim the solar rebate.
“The Premier made a big announcement with much fanfare about his plans for a 10 year Solar Homes program, but months down the track hard working Victorians have been left out of pocket and angry that the rebate they were promised has not been honoured.
Mr Walsh cited an elderly constituent who presented to his electorate office in a state of sheer frustration and anger at the process he had undergone in an attempt to obtain his solar rebate.
“He submitted his paperwork in March 2019, and is still awaiting payment.
“Another couple invested their hard earned savings to install solar panels on their home in April 2019 and followed what was, at that time, due process by then applying for their rebate online.
“They were unable to do so because the Solar Victoria portal had been closed down. When it re-opened on 1st July they were advised they were ineligible for their rebate because the rules had changed.”
Mr Walsh said Daniel Andrews needs to fix the debacle he and his incompetent Minister have created.
“I am calling on the Premier to honour all rebates of well-meaning people who have been caught up in the Andrews Labor government’s poor administrative practices and midstream changes to the rebate application process.”
