The Nationals in government will help finish the much-wanted Kyabram Walking and Cycling Trail Member for Murray Plains Peter Walsh has announced today.
An elected Liberal Nationals Government will close the loop for local walkers runners and bike riders by helping complete the ‘˜missing link’ along Breen Avenue boosting community safety and encouraging locals and visitors alike to get active.
Mr Walsh said the current sections were completed in 2013 under the previous Liberal Nationals government and this additional $430 000 will help finish the job.
“The Kyabram Walking and Cycling Trail has been a boon for the community helping local people stay active and giving visitors a unique way to see the town” Mr Walsh said.
“But with a missing link along Breen Avenue locals and visitors are forced onto the roadside to get to the next section of the track which is a particular concern for families with young children.
“I was pleased to be part of the former Liberal Nationals government that started this project in 2013 and I’m proud to announce that if elected a Liberal Nationals Government will finish what we started.”
The Breen Ave section will link up with completed sections of the trail at Kyabram-Cooma Rd and Allan St completing the trail’s loop.
The final section of the trail will be jointly funded by Campaspe Shire Council and The Nationals in Government.
“In addition to encouraging locals to keep active it will be a valuable tourist attraction once complete” Mr Walsh said.
“This will have a great economic benefit for a whole range of businesses and help showcase our region to visitors.”
