Leader of The Nationals and Member for Murray Plains Peter Walsh has encouraged local Year 9 and 10 students to apply for the 2015-16 Premier’s Spirit of ANZAC Prize.
“Following the fantastic support of ANZAC Day commemorative services across the Murray Plains Electorate it is timely to encourage local students to make the most of this meaningful opportunity “ Mr Walsh said.
“The Premier’sSpirit of ANZAC Prize encourages young people to question what the ANZAC spirit means today in a diverse and multicultural Australia. Students can submit essays artwork musical compositions and audio or video packages as part of their presentations” he said.
Mr Walsh said the prize is open to all Victorian school students in Year 9 and 10 and that state finalists will have the opportunity to travel on an all-expenses paid overseas European study tour of Gallipoli and the Western Front to reflect upon the spirit of those brave Australians who gave their lives at war.
In addition 16 regional finalists will participate in a study tour to Canberra where they will visit the Australian War Memorial..
