The 4 kilometers of dusty gravel road that leads to the Wandella Recreation Reserve will be sealed if the Liberal Nationals are elected to government on the 24th November 2018.
The Leader of The Nationals and Member for Murray Plains Peter Walsh MP said that Wandella is the only football netball club in country Victoria that is actually on a gravel road.
The Wandella Bombers is a very competitive club in the Golden Rivers Football Netball League.
“On Tuesday and Thursday nights and every second Saturday there is a lot of traffic on the road and conditions can be treacherous particularly on dark wet winter nights.
“Despite this very challenging gravel road that families need to transverse to get to training and games the club has been very successful and won a lot of finals over the journey.
“If the Liberal Nationals are elected to government we will reinstate the $160 million Country Roads and Bridges Program and under that program funding to seal the road to Wandella Recreation Reserve will be a priority” Mr Walsh said.
“The players supporters and visitors to the Wandella Bombers Football Netball Club should expect a safe route to be provided to their sport and not have to risk their lives on a dangerous gravel road that becomes even more challenging at night or in wet conditions.
“They deserve a much better deal than they have had over the past four years of a city centric Labor government.
“Only a Liberal Nationals government understands the importance of grassroots sporting clubs in rural towns and the effort that is required to sustain them.
