The Leader of The Nationals and Member for Murray Plains Peter Walsh is encouraging local students to enter the 2019 Parliament Prize competition.
“This year the Parliament Prize is asking students to submit a video of themselves presenting a Member’s Statement ” Mr Walsh said.
“A Member’s Statement is an opportunity for elected members to make a brief statement in Parliament of no more than 90 seconds on matters of interest and concern to the people of their electorate.
“Students wishing to enter the competition can submit a video recording of themselves or use an animated avatar.
“In my regular school visits across the electorate I have met so many terrific young students who I know could excel at such a task.”
The competition is open to Victorian primary and secondary school students from year 5 through to 12 with categories of years 5-6 years 7-9 and years 10-12.
Students can win $500 for themselves as well as $1 000 for their school.
Interested students are encouraged to call Peter Walsh at his office on 54 822039 if they would like first-hand knowledge on how to create and deliver a Member’s Statement.
