Leader of The Nationals and Member for Murray Plains Peter Walsh is encouraging local women involved in primary industries who are passionate about their work and their community to nominate for the 2016 Rural Women’s Award.
Mr Walsh said the Rural Industries Research and Development Corporation (RIRDIC) Rural Women’s Award provides opportunities for rural women in leadership roles to enhance their industry and grow their leadership capacity.
“The award identifies and supports emerging female leaders who have the capability and resources to drive innovation productivity and sustainability within primary industries and build economic and social development within rural communities “ Mr Walsh said.
“The award also acknowledges that women offer a unique approach to leadership which involves connecting and collaborating to effect change and influence often without the need for position or authority.
“I encourage women in the Murray Plains Electorate who are passionate about primary industries and have a vision for rural Victoria to apply for the award “ he said.
Mr Walsh said the winner of the award will receive a $10 000 bursary to implement their project vision and participate in the RIRDC Australian Institute of Company Directors Course.
