Leader of The Nationals and Member for Murray Plains Peter Walsh is calling on the Andrews Labor Government to commit funding to the Kyabram P-12 College in the May State Budget.
“Prior to the November 2014 election the Liberal-Nationals Coalition announced $10 million to enable the college to finally construct its middle years complex and complete the regeneration project.
“It was very disappointing that Labor did not match this commitment “ Mr Walsh
He said it has taken Labor three years to drip feed funding for the project and the school community has been very patient over that time.
“In spite of this the people of Kyabram and district have stayed loyal to the college and enrolments are now well up over the 1 000 mark “ Mr Walsh said.
Kyabram has been well and truly challenged over the past 5 years and its time now that Daniel Andrews acknowledged the resilience of this great community.
“The completion of the Kyabram P-12 regeneration project is integral to attracting new families to Kyabram and supporting the community to grow and prosper “ he said.
“All young people deserve quality learning environments whether they live in the city or the country.
“If the Labor Government is serious about building Victoria as the Education State they must provide vital funding to support the rebuild of Kyabram P-12 A block and finally complete the regeneration project” Mr Walsh said.
