Dear Editor
There is less than a week remaining for Murray Plains Electorate residents to have their say on Daniel Andrews’ disastrous plan to tear apart the CFA.
The Andrews Labor Government did not consult with hardworking CFA volunteers or the communities they protect when this legislation was written.
But the Liberals and Nationals have ensured Murray Plains Electorate residents are given a chance to put their concerns on the record by successfully establishing a Select Committee Inquiry that will be conducted by the Victorian Parliament’s Legislative Council.
We moved to establish this inquiry specifically to examine how Labor’s plan to tear apart the CFA will impact on fire service delivery across Victoria its effect on volunteer engagement and participation in fire service delivery short term and long term cost impacts and the underlying policy rationale.
Submissions to the inquiry are now open but they close on Friday July 7.
I urge CFA volunteers and anyone in who wants to have their say on Labor’s plan to make a submission as soon as possible.
Submissions can be emailed to LCSC@parliament.vic.gov.au or submitted online at parliament.vic.gov.au/fireservicesbill
Yours sincerely
Peter Walsh MP
Leader of The Nationals
