Melbourne’s dams now hold more water than they did at the same time last year.
Melbourne’s water storages are at 72.5 per cent – 1313.8 billion litres. It means there is an extra 2.1 billion litres of water available for use than at this time last year.
Storages are still filling after weekend rain dumped up to 28.8 mm of rain across the four catchments.
Comments from Peter Walsh Shadow Minister for Water
Daniel Andrews got this wrong and has wasted $27 million of other people’s money on desal water that they don’t need.
Melbourne’s dams were already in the Secure High Zone when Daniel Andrews arrogantly locked in the order.
Daniel Andrews was hell-bent on firing up the desal plant but it’s ordinary families who are losing out with higher water bills.
And so much for Daniel Andrews and Lisa Neville using Geelong as an excuse for the order – Geelong’s storages are at 85.1 per cent which is far more than the same time last year.
