The Andrews Labor Government has confirmed it won’t fund its under-resourced Cross Border Commissioner in two years’ time.
A departmental job advertisement for the Victorian Cross Border Commissioner confirms the position is for “up to 2 years” with no guarantee on where it will be based or what will happen after.
True to form Labor’s offering our border communities scraps off the table with a grossly inadequate funding package that will barely cover the Commissioner’s more than $300 000 salary ‘“ let alone the work they have to do.
Regional Development Minister Jaala Pulford embarrassingly again failed to explain the under-resourcing in Parliament today claiming $760 000 over two years was adequate.
Our communities along the South Australia and New South Wales borders have waited too long for Daniel Andrews to get on with resolving problems with red tape and regulation between states.
But Labor still fails to take the concerns of our cross border communities seriously.
Unlike Labor a Liberal Nationals Government will fully fund the Cross Border Commissioner for four years based in Mildura near our tri-state borders.
Only a Liberal Nationals Government will deliver a better deal for our cross-border communities.
