The Andrews Government green-lighting a takeover of the CFA by the United Firefighters Union is a complete betrayal of the brave volunteers that protect the Murray Plains electorate.
A UFU takeover of the CFA would prevent volunteers from fighting fires without professional firefighters in attendance and lead to tens of thousands of volunteers resigning. This will put regional Victoria in greater risk next bushfire season.
A future without 60 000 CFA Volunteer Firefighters is one Victoria cannot afford.
The CFA has a proud history of protecting Victoria for 100 years.
The Liberal Nationals value greatly the bravery of our CFA men and women which is why we have a petition to keep the CFA a strong independent volunteer organisation which protects regional Victoria.
