Leader of The Nationals and Member for Murray Plains Peter Walsh is encouraging sports clubs not-for-profit organisations and community groups across the Murray Plains electorate to take advantage of the third and final round of the Community Shade Grants Program which is now open.
Mr Walsh said funding was available in three bands – Band 1 up to $5 000 Band 2 $5 000 to $20 000 and Band 3 $20 000 – $50 000 – but applicants can only for one grant.
The program provides funding to build new shade structures repair or replace existing shade structures create natural shade by planting trees purchase a portable shade – or a combination of options.
Applicants for built repair/replacement natural and portable shade may also apply for up to an additional $700 for sunscreen and hats.
The application process involves two stages:
- Expression of Interest
- Full application (shortlisted applicants only)
“I am positive that all eligible community organisations in the Murray Plains electorate could put additional shade structures to good use and I encourage all to look into this program as a way of achieving that” Mr Walsh said.
