As the end of 2019 approaches and many of us look to enjoy some well-earned time with family and friends, I’d like to take this opportunity to wish everyone in the Murray Plains electorate a very Merry Christmas.
Our communities have remained strong in the face of difficult circumstances because of the price of water and dry conditions.
As you plan your Christmas festivities, take every opportunity to buy local and support our tremendous producers and small businesses.
The holiday period is a time to celebrate all that we cherish in our lives, but it is also a busy time.
If you’re travelling to visit family and friends, please remember to drive to arrive. Stay vigilant on the roads, allow plenty of time to get where you need to go safely, always leave the mobile phone alone and don’t drink and drive.
While most of us will be with loved ones over the break, we should be mindful of those for whom Christmas is a difficult and lonely time, and we should also consider the many wonderful workers – police, paramedics, nurses, doctors and other essential services staff – who will be working hard to protect and support our community while the rest of us take time off.
Lastly, with extreme heat predicted in coming days and weeks, make sure to look out for eachother and check up on neighbours, friends or family who may struggle in the hot weather.
Have an enjoyable Christmas period and wishing everyone the very best for a prosperous and joyful 2020.
