Leader of The Nationals and Member for Murray Plains Peter Walsh has encouraged Kyabram people to support a dinner being held to celebrate fifteen years of chaplaincy at Kyabram P-12 College.
“The chaplaincy program offers a place of refuge to young people who are struggling with family concerns or who need extra support during a period in their life.
“It also provides support and a listening ear to students and staff in times of personal distress ” Mr Walsh said.
Chaplain Liz Spicer said her committee was excited to secure a very high profile guest speaker for the event the Hon John Anderson.
“Mr Anderson is a former federal Leader of The National Party and former Deputy Prime Minister of Australia.
As a keynote speaker at Christian Media Australia’s CONNECT Mr Anderson challenged the Christian media to recognise what some secular writers already have. “Just as our economic success and our democratic freedoms had their origins in belief systems it’s the collapse of those belief systems the abandonment of them even the mocking of them that is proving to be our undoing. In other words we’re a Christian society. That’s where our freedoms came from.”
Ms Spicer said John has a deep Christian conviction and is a man of great heart.
“He will be an inspiring guest speaker. He has a real story to tell.”
The dinner will take place at the Kyabram Bocce Club on Thursdsay 13th October 2016 at 6.30 pm.
Bookings can be made by contacting Sue Walley on 0400565052 or emailing fabflowers@bigpond.com asap.
There is no charge for the dinner however an opportunity will be provided for a donation to support the Chaplaincy Program at Kyabram P-12 College.
