The Nationals Member for Murray Plains Peter Walsh is encouraging local councils and
community groups to apply for Victorian Government community safety grants.
“This fund supports local communities in implementing practical projects to deter crime and
promote safety “ Mr Walsh said.
Community safety projects come in many different forms from installing security features to
undertaking community awareness activities.
Mr Walsh said the Liberal-Nationals Coalition had a comprehensive crime prevention agenda
and when in government introduced a dedicated portfolio of community safety initiatives.
“The Community Crime Prevention Program which is currently open was introduced by the
Coaltion to facilitate local solutions for local problems “ he said.
“It is a tremendous grassroots program and I am pleased to see that that labor government
has committed to it “ Mr Walsh said.
Grants of up to $10 000 are available for community groups and councils to support local
crime prevention initiatives.
Applications for Community Safety Fund grants close at 4pm on 10 July.
Also on offer is the Public Safety Infrastructure Fund grants program with applications closing
