Spirt of ANZAC Prize
Wednesday 14th September 2016
Leader of The Nationals and Member for Murray Plains Peter Walsh has encouraged Year 9 and 10 students to apply for the 2016-17 Premier’s Spirit of ANZAC Prize.
The Premier’s Spirit of ANZAC Prize will provide 22 students with the opportunity to participate in an overseas study tour of Lemnos, Gallipoli and the Western Front.
Mr Walsh said the Prize encourages young people to question what the ANZAC spirit means today in a diverse and multicultural Australia.
“It asks them to reflect what it would be like to grow up in a family which had been affected in this way? What was the impact on women, on the community and most of all on the expectations and responsibilities of young people their age” he said.
Students can submit essays, poems, short stories, audio or video presentations, musical compositions, a webpage, or artwork as part of their presentations.
Applications close on Friday September 23rd 2016. For more information or to apply online, visit http://www.dpc.vic.gov.au/index.php/veterans/veterans-board-positions/premiers-spirit-of-anzac-prize-2016-17
“Since its inception in 2004, this important prize has captured the imagination of students eager to learn more about Australia’s service history and has provided them with the opportunity to see first-hand where Australian men and women sacrificed so much for future generations,” Mr Walsh said.
