Money Available for Regional Arts

Thursday 6th October 2016

Regional arts presenters are being invited to share in $295,000 of grants under the Small Regional Presenters part of the Regional Arts Package.

Leader of The Nationals and Member for Murray Plains Peter Walsh said the funding is available to not for profit arts groups and societies, venues and local councils who are members of Regional Arts Victoria.

“Art and cultural events play an important role in the social development of our country communities,” Mr Walsh said.

“They draw interest from surrounding areas, and tourists from much farther afield, and provide an alternative avenue to complement our flourishing tourism industry.

“I encourage locally based arts groups and venues to take up this funding opportunity.

“It would be great to see an increase in arts and cultural events right across the Murray Plains electorate,” he said.

Funding will be offered through three grant rounds in 2016-17 and applications for the first round close at 5 pm on Wednesday 16 November 2016, for shows taking place from 31 January 2017 onwards.
