Leader of The Nationals and Member for Murray Plains Peter Walsh said that Andrews Labor Government’s latest State Budget offered a very raw deal to Swan Hill and district.
Mr Walsh said he was bitterly disappointed Labor had again ignored the pressing need to fund the continued redevelopment of Swan Hill District Health.
Swan Hill District Health is a sub-regional hospital that services a radius of 150km and population of 40 000 people.
“It has completed master planning a number of times and the plan now comprises an extensive redevelopment of the hospital in six stages” Mr Walsh said.
“Money to get this project underway is my number one priority for Swan Hill and the complete snub by the Premier for Melbourne and his city centric Labor government in this year’s budget is a bitter pill to swallow.
“With Labor beating its chest about infrastructure spending there was a strong hope that this project would make the cut.
“Instead the Premier for Melbourne’s latest Budget pours $25 billion into metro cost blowouts but leaves local families and businesses no better off meeting the pressures of a growing costof-living.
“Daniel Andrews has left our community on the go slow by ignoring the most pressing and important issues including the hospital and the purchase of new trains.
“This year’s Budget is an absolute raw deal for the people of Swan Hill.
“Only an elected Nationals government will offer a better deal for our community.”
