Financial support for farmers to replace boundary fencing destroyed in the bushfires must be rolled out immediately.
Bushfire-affected farmers in East Gippsland and north east Victoria will be relieved the Victorian Government has finally confirmed today it will cover half the cost of replacing fencing that borders state forests and national parks.
Daniel Andrews must now make sure property and fence assessments to determine farmers’ eligibility are fast-tracked to get support where it’s urgently needed.
The past few weeks have been exhausting for farmers who had internal and external fencing destroyed and are now desperately trying to contain the livestock they worked so hard to protect.
These fires have been absolutely devastating for our farmers and country communities in eastern Victoria.
The Andrews Labor Government has a responsibility to be a good neighbour. Our farmers can’t afford to wait months for support.
It’s now up to Daniel Andrews and his Agriculture Minister to ensure property assessments are urgently completed so our bushfire-affected farmers can start desperately-needed work to replace these critical boundary fences.
