The Leader of The Nationals and Member for Murray Plains Peter Walsh is calling for people to nominate individuals or groups in the Murray Plains electorate for the 2019 Shrine of Remembrance Medal.
Mr Walsh said the Shrine of Remembrance Medal recognises a significant contribution of honouring the service and sacrifice of Victorians in war and peacekeeping.
“I am aware of many outstanding individuals in communities across the electorate who would be worthy nominees for this prestigious medal.
“For significant parts of their lifetimes they have been making stand out contributions to the care of our country’s veterans.
“Many served in the military themselves and they know the struggles because they have walked the walk.
“They understand the importance too of advancing community knowledge and recognition of the enormous sacrifices of veterans.”
The recipient of the 2019 Shrine of Remembrance Medal will be presented at a special invitation only event following the Remembrance Day Service at the Shrine on Monday, 11 November 2019.
“”If you know of an individual or a group you believe would be worthy of the Shrine of Remembrance Medal please take the time to nominate them,” Mr Walsh said.
Nominations forms are available by contacting the Murray Plains electorate office on 54 822039 or by visiting https://www.shrine.org.au/Remembrance/Shrine-of-Remembrance-Annual-Medal
