It is a relief that Labor has finally realised the value of the former Coalition Government’s work with Integrated Water Cycle Management.
In 2011 after a decade of drought and water mismanagement that saw Labor waste billions of taxpayer dollars on the desal plant and the north south pipeline the former Coalition Government began the important work of helping Melbourne make greater use of rainwater stormwater and recycled water.
It was so short-sighted of Labor to halt this work as soon as Daniel Andrews became Premier.
Hopefully Labor is beginning to understand that there are options for future water security beyond expensive desal plants and giant pipelines that take water from farmers to flush toilets.
