Passengers on the Swan Hill and Echuca, and Bendigo lines continue to be plagued by frustrating delays and unreliable train services.
Just 78.7 per cent of Bendigo services ran on time in March, while the Swan Hill and Echuca lines were on time 84.8 per cent of the time.
All but one of Victoria’s eleven regional train lines failed to meet the 92 per cent punctuality target in March.
Leader of The Nationals and Member for Murray Plains Peter Walsh said the Andrews Government had completely disregarded country Victorians, axing $149 million from VLine’s operating budget last year.
“The Premier for Melbourne has found billions of dollars for level crossing blowouts in Melbourne, but is happy to leave country commuters on a third-world service,” Mr Walsh said.
According to the latest VLine performance figures the Geelong, Bendigo, Seymour and Gippsland lines all ran at least six minutes late.
All six long distance services, including the Swan Hill & Echuca line, failed to arrive within 11 minutes of the scheduled arrival time and reach the 92 per cent punctuality target.
“The city-centric Labor government is ignorant to the needs of thousands of Victorians who are inconvenienced by VLine delays, breakdowns and cancellations on a daily basis,” Mr Walsh said.
“The Andrews Government has one job – to make sure the trains run on time, but every day there’s a new problem that makes our trains less reliable.”
