Leader of The Nationals and Member for Murray Plains Peter Walsh has encouraged grassroots football and netball clubs and umpiring associations to apply for grants of up to $100 000 to improve their facilities.
Applications for the current round of The Country Football and Netball Program are now open and will close on 3 June 2019.
Mr Walsh said funding assistance was available for facility improvements like ground resurfacing installation of lighting building modern and safer netball courts and new pavilions with accessible and female-friendly change rooms.
“The Country Football and Netball Program enables our local football and netball clubs to make the improvements needed to deliver facilities we need to enjoy playing the sports we love” he said.
“Having high quality sporting facilities is central to encouraging more Victorians to get more active more often.
“As well as encouraging participation in football and netball the initiative helps to stimulate local economies by creating jobs during construction.”
Mr Walsh said clubs must register their interest in applying for funding by submitting an Expression of Interest to their local council.
“I strongly encourage clubs to contact their local council about timelines for Expression of Interest” Mr Walsh said.
