25 August 2015

The, triumphs, hardships and characters that make up the history of the Cohuna Agriculture, Pastoral & Horticultural Society  (AP & H Society) will live longer and reach more locals thanks to the Victorian Government’s Local History Grants program.

The AP & H Society has received a $9,159 grant to create a multifaceted project which celebrates the contribution of the AP & H Society including a book publication, oral history recording and digitization component.

Member for Murray Plains Peter Walsh said the judging panel agreed on the importance of highlighting and documenting the significance of the institution of the local agricultural show in rural Victoria.

In congratulating the AH& P Society Mr Walsh said their success in the Local History Grants Program recognized the tremendous efforts of the current committee who worked hard to put together such a good submission.

“It is wonderful acknowledgment too of the importance of the agriculture and horticulture industries on which the community has been built.”

Mr Walsh said the grant will  ensure that many amazing stories of our past are preserved and shared with the generations to follow,” Mr Walsh said.

The Local History Grants program is managed by the Public Record Office Victoria.
