AgriFuture Scholarships to Nuture Young Leaders
Thursday 25th January 2018
Young Australian students looking to develop their careers in agribusiness are being urged to nominate for a scholarship designed to nurture future leaders in the sector, Leader of The Nationals and Member for Murray Plains said today.
Applicants for the AgriFutures Horizon Scholarship must be an Australian citizen or permanent resident enrolled full-time in their first year of an agriculture-related degree at an Australian University with a maximum two-year gap between high school and tertiary study.
In addition in 2018 there are three additional and unique scholarships on offer, targeting students in their final two years of study within a financial services discipline with a keen interest in agriculture.
Mr Walsh said he was focused on encouraging more young people to take up careers in agriculture and agribusiness and he encouraged students in the Murray Plains electorate to submit an application.
“Rural students often face much greater barriers to participation in higher education than their metropolitan counterparts,” Mr Walsh said.
“These scholarships provide young people with an opportunity to gain valuable skills and a greater understanding of the industry.
“Successful applicants would receive $5000 per year for the first two years of their degree and
the scholarship program is complemented by professional development workshops and two weeks of work placement each year of the scholarship.”
To apply for the scholarship, students must personally complete the online application form which is currently live on the website http://www.agrifutures.com.au. Applications will close at 5 pm Friday 23 February 2018
For further information students should personally email email@example.com
Mr Walsh said that following a review of all written applications, short-listed applicants will participate in a phone interview after which successful applicants will be selected.
Successful students will be notified in May.
