Public Transport Review – Make Your Voice Heard
10 August 2015
The Leader of The Nationals and Member for Murray Plains, Peter Walsh, is encouraging all local public transport travellers to have their say on the government’s review of public transport in regional Victoria.
“Improved rail services are a key priority for regional Victorians,” Mr Walsh said.
Public Transport Victoria (PTV) is undertaking a review of services in regional Victoria to help form a Network Development Plan.
“We are being told that the Network Development Plan is to be built from local ideas about what our local communities need from public transport, so let’s take the Melbourne Labor Government to task.
“Currently about 50,000 people live along two train lines –Swan Hill to Bendigo and Echuca to Bendigo,” Mr Walsh said.
“We know what public transport services we want and need for our region, but results will only come if we all contribute as one strong voice, Mr Walsh said.
The Swan Hill workshop is scheduled to take place from 11am to 1 pm on Friday 28th August at Stradbroke Hall or you contribute online now at http://getinvolved.ptv.vic.gov.au/regional-network-development-plan.
“We call on Premier Andrews to fulfill his commitment to govern for all Victorians and fund a rail package that gives increased services to the communities along the Swan Hill/Bendigo line.
“Daniel Andrews has launched more than 80 different reviews since he took office – and regional and rural people are heartily sick of a whole lot of talk but very little action,” Mr Walsh said.
