Grants to keep young people out of aged care
26 March 2015
Young people with high needs who are living at home and at risk of entering aged care are now able to apply for funding assistance, Member for Murray Plains Peter Walsh said today.
Mr Walsh said the 2015 round of Youngcare’s At Home Care Gants (AHCG) was now open for applications from people aged 18 to 65 who are at risk of entering aged care prematurely.
“Youngcare’s AHCG are available across Victoria and are distributed on a needs basis,
Mr Walsh said.
“This year Youngcare provided $250,000 worth of grants for young people with high needs who are in need of financial assistance.
“The scheme offers one-off payments to assist with the purchase of essential support items such as hoists, wheelchairs, emergency respite care and renovations to make homes disability friendly,” Mr Walsh said.
“I encourage anyone at risk to apply for these grants,” Mr Walsh said.
Applications must be submitted by Friday 10 April.
