Member for Swan Hill, Peter Walsh, has announced that the Victorian Coalition Government is offering an opportunity to residents of the Yarriambiack Shire to safely dispose of old cleaning products, left-over paint, dead batteries and weedkiller stored around their home.
The Detox Your Home program operates in partnership with the Yarriambiack Council to provide a free service to collect potentially dangerous and unwanted household chemical products.
Residents can dispose of their unwanted household chemicals on Sunday March 17 between 8am and 11am at the Yarriambiack Council Depot on the Henty Highway, Warracknabeal.
“This is an important service funded by the Victorian Government which ensures collected materials are treated and recycled or disposed of safely by a specialist team,” Mr Walsh said.
“We all have a collection of old paint tins and the like in our sheds and this service enables us to clean out these items without causing any harm to the environment.
“This is another example of the Government’s commitment to protecting Victoria’s environment and ensuring communities are free of harmful chemicals,” he said.
“I urge everyone to take advantage of this opportunity to rid themselves of these unwanted and potentially harmful products in this environmentally friendly way,” Mr Walsh said.
