Mysia local Tessa Gould is the recipient of a scholarship provided by The Nationals to assist her with her tertiary studies.
Tessa was presented with a cheque for $2000 by local Member and Deputy Leader of The Nationals, Peter Walsh, at a ceremony at Parliament House last night.
“It gave me great pleasure to present Tessa with this scholarship,” Mr Walsh said.
“These are well sought after by regional students and the selection criteria undertaken by the Scholarship Committee of The Nationals is quite rigorous resulting in the winners being of the highest calibre.
“Tessa is a well deserving recipient who has set high goals for herself with her studies and her career ambitions.
“She has commenced study this year at Melbourne University seeking a Bachelor of Science with a career in engineering being her ultimate goal.
“One of the criteria for the scholarship is for the recipient to commit to returning to country Victoria with their career and, as the Minister for Water, I am very pleased that Tessa’s career goal is to work as a civil engineer in irrigation and river systems.
“With her positive and determined approach to her academic studies and her demonstrated involvement in school and community activities and organisations I am sure she will achieve success in her chosen study and career path,” Mr Walsh said.
Tessa and her parents were guests of Mr Walsh and fellow Nationals Parliamentarian, Damian Drum, for dinner at Parliament House following the presentation of her scholarship cheque.
